Metamorphosis Monday - Bedroom Patio Redo

Hello  there, and welcome to Metamorphosis Monday!!

At the end of Spring this year, this is what my patio view outside of my bedroom was looking like.......yeah, not so pretty!!  With the majority of my plants dying from the cold weather, I was getting really antsy to start sprucing up that patio and buying new plants. 

I just love plants and flowers, and one major drawback of the winter time for me is not being able to have them out. 

Here is another view of what I see when I look out my bedroom patio door.  This was also at the end of spring this past year. 

It was in deed time to start sprucing everything up for the summer!! 

I had purchased this little vanity stool at a thrift store a couple of years ago.  It had been sitting in my garage waiting for a new look as well as a new home.  So, I thought my naked patio would be a great place for it to live.  But, it would require some TLC to get it ready for it's new home.

This poor little plant holder had also seen better days, and it was needing some attention as well!!

 As I was gathering up my accessories for my patio, I remembered this little cross that had been under my guest bed for the last couple of years.  I thought it would be perfect to hang out there.   I thought it also needed a new makeover. 

 I then went and purchased some outdoor fabric for a couple of dollars, to cover this old patio cushion that had also been living in my garage.  Do you see my freshly painted stool?  It is not gold anymore.............

Since the cushion was to big, and was a standard size cushion for patio furniture I simply just measured & cut off the excess piece. 

 I then whipped up a slipcover for the cushion, and placed it on.....

 And, here is what my patio looks like today........

 I think my view outside my bedroom looks so, sooooooooo much better now................

 Here is that cute little plant holder painted green, it looks so much better, and does not blend into the gravel any more. 

 I just love this little turtle planter, isn't it just to precious??? 

 I added a little votive holder to light at night.  I just love having candles lit outside, it makes for such a cozy feeling at night. 

 See that little cross I painted under the awning on the wall, if you are looking out from inside you can see it much better.  I would love to replace this old, tired awning with new material one of these days.......

Metamorphasis Monday - Bathroom

Do you all remember my guest bathroom post last month?? If you would like to see it, click here. Well, my master bathroom was just as bad!! Thank goodness it is smaller. So that meant there was not as much wallspace to work on as the guest bathroom. But, it was equally as icky!!! It had 80's wallpaper & flooring, an old faucet, and a mirror that spanned across the sink & toilet. This all needed to be changed out desperately!! I forgot to mention on the other post, I also replaced both toilet seats. That sort of stuff grosses me out!!

So, after all of the mudding, sanding, orange peeling, priming & painting here is my transformation:

Unfortunately it was not in the budget to change out the vanity, it is a little darker than it looks in the after pictures. I think the flash is making it look a lot lighter. At some point I would like to sand it down & stain it a darker color to match the mirror & shelf.


I still need to add the 3/4 rounds, I just cannot get it to come in out of the garage & nail it's self in! I would also like to eventually add some crown molding.

Metamorphasis Monday

When I purchased my home last year it was in desperate need of many updates. My guest bathroom had 80’s wallpaper, 80’s flooring, a nasty vanity that had a moldy type substance under the sink, old hardware and an outdated mirror.

First on my agenda was to rip out that yucky vanity, so that it could be replaced with a pedestal sink. Next was time to take down all of the dated hardware & mirror. With all of that out of the way I could start removing the wallpaper with ease, right? Wrong!!!

I thought that wallpaper was taking revenge on me for what reason, I do not know. It took several trial & error methods, nothing was working it simply did not want to come off. So, I marched down to Lowe’s, one of my 218 visits, and purchased some mud. With the mud, by hand, I thinly coated over the half ripped wallpaper. Once that was dry I sanded it all down (by hand), and repeated the process again. Keep in mind this was all of the walls with the exception of the area around the sink & toilet. After this was done I purchased a texture gun, and sprayed orange peel all over the walls. Next, I primed it all, and then my wonderful friend Barbara painted it for me!! Thank you again Barbara.

I hired someone to tile the bathroom floor. By the way, I found the flooring on clearance at Home Depot for $.59 a square foot!! With all of the labor out of the way, it was time to start decorating it.

I still need to add the 3/4 rounds to to baseboards. After that is done I need to paint the 3/4 rounds and the baseboards. I would love to eventually add crown molding as well!
