Initial Art

I got this really adorable idea from Shannon at Bless our Nest. She has such a lovely home & so many great ideas. Stop by and visit her blog.

I have been looking for something to hang above my bed about six months now. I cannot find anything that I like, so I thought I would start off with this and add something else later.

I took an old frame and painted it brown to match the furniture in my bedroom. In addition to that all it took was some fabric, scrapbook paper, and a piece of cardboard from a box to glue the fabric on.

It was really easy, and the variations you could go with are endless. Print out your initials in whatever font you like, choose a piece of material or scrapbook paper, and you could even
add a ribbon and bow.

I think I might put some type of horizontal piece above the initial frame. But I do not know what to add to the rest of the wall. If you have any ideas I would love to hear them.

Hi Nicole! As soon as I saw the red toile, I came running! I love the idea with the initials. You could use a name in a child's room. I was eating in a restaurant recently whre they had taken the art work and put one of those scrolled iron headers above the painting and one below! It turned the art into a real statement. So I tried it on one of mine...gave it a real presence. I was pleasantly surprised at the transformation! Sooo...you might try that. have a great weekend...Debbie

Nicole,
That is such a neat idea! It goes perfect in your room! I love your bedding too. I like the scroll idea that someone commented about. You could even use a wooden header if you wanted or maybe that wooden trim that you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot.

I'm not so sure you need anything else on the wall. Your headboard has nice height, so it really helps to "close the gap" with the ceiling. The only thing I might suggest (and I know it's not very easily or cheaply done) is crown molding. It would really stand off nicely against the cafe au lait color of your walls, and really give it that "finished" look.
I know, put it on the "save for" To Do list, right? ;)
Take Care!
